Opportunity description:

A fast-growing, internet education startup is looking for a self-motivated, data-loving, hypothesis-driven problem solver to contribute to strategic planning, product and content development, analytical research, and the tactical execution of cross-functional initiatives. Opportunities exist within our product management, engineering, eCommerce, marketing, content production, and FP&A teams.

Candidate profile:

  • MBA or bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or similar field with an emphasis on quantitative methods
  • One to three years experience in consulting, investment banking, or private equity preferred
  • Ability to think creatively, structure ambiguous problems, conduct analyses with limited guidance, synthesize analyses to generate insights and actionable plans
  • Predisposition to find an 80/20 solution and focus on rapid iteration of ideas
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a bias for being concise
  • Proficiency in Excel required and experience with SQL or other programming a plus
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate content strategies that are appropriate for our video-based content medium
  • Develop curriculum along with instructors that is compelling, relevant, and targeted
  • Conduct ongoing research evaluate current courses and inform the direction of future content
  • Identify, attract, and acquire highly skilled instructors who will produce blockbuster courses
  • Work closely with the broader production team to vet course proposals, review video footage, write course materials, and onboard instructors
  • Collaborate with the production crew, motion graphics, and marketing teams on all materials needed to produce and launch each course
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Craftsy platform at trade shows and conferences

 

Requirements:

  • Analytical expertise to support our data-driven approach to curriculum development for several distinct audiences
  • Keen understanding of market segmentation, forces and opportunities within category
  • The ability to create a defined editorial point of view and vision for a new content structure which resembles an instructor-focused, process-driven video e-book
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear editorial direction for visual, aural, and written materials
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
  • A demonstrated ability to cultivate deep and lasting business relationships
  • The willingness and ability to become our external spokesperson in this arena: serving on panels; recruiting instructors; attending trade shows and networking
  • The capacity to operate in a faced-paced, ever-changing start-up environment
  • Content or curricular development skills are a plus

Registration is now open for a week-long course in August on “Game Development for Software Engineers”, hosted by MIT Professional Development and the MIT Game Lab (ranked in the top 10 colleges for Game Design by the Princeton Review for the past 4 years). It is aimed at software engineers, technical directors, programmers, and project managers interested in or new to professional game development… especially those now being required to work on games or interactive software for entertainment, including mobile apps of all kinds (games, illustrated books, health apps, gamification apps, etc…)!

  • Help build Twitter’s business by closing strategic partnerships that greatly scale and expedite advertiser acquisition.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Business Development experience in a consumer-web company.

  • Sharp strategic thinker who can design and execute on a vision.
  • History of running quickly with little supervision. Ability to adapt to and lead through fast-paced, high-growth, uncertain environments.
  • Proven success in negotiating complex deals and driving most aspects of the legal process.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.  Ability to speak fluently to executives, business development leaders, product managers, lawyers, and engineers.
  • Deep understanding of the Twitter media ecosystem and online advertising landscape are a plus.
  • A BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math strongly encouraged.  MBA or JD a plus.

The Boston Chapter of the HBS Alumni Angels are volunteering to help aspiring entrepreneurs refine their businesses plans, prepare their presentations for seed funding, or get ready for the New Venture Competition.
