[Event] i-Lab Winter Break Trips

September 24, 2012  |  No Comments  |  by admin  |  Events

The Innovation Lab-sponsored Winter Break trips to New York City (Jan. 14-18) and Silicon Valley (Jan. 13-18) are now accepting applications. The NYC trip is new and will focus on cultural entrepreneurship (in fashion, food, fine arts, etc.). As with last year’s Lab-sponsored SV immersion, this year’s trips will involve students from all Harvard schools.

Details:

The Harvard innovation lab is pleased to be sponsoring two faculty led trips this January term – one to Silicon Valley and the other to New York City. Any current Harvard student may apply for consideration to either trip (see trip descriptions and application information for each trip below). Although each trip has a distinct emphasis, both trips are focused on students with an active interest in entrepreneurship and innovation.  Both trips are offered during the same week in January, therefore, it is not possible for a Harvard student to be accepted and attend both trips.

The deadline to apply for either trip is 11:59PM on October 8, 2012.

Details about the application process can be found here:  http://i-lab.harvard.edu/winter-break-trips

[News] Minimum Viable Product Award – Apply by October 1

September 20, 2012  |  No Comments  |  by admin  |  News

ECs:   Minimum Viable Product Award (MVP Award)

The MVP Award is designed to help students who are using the lean startup methodology and developing a minimum viable product. To learn more about this set of ideas, visit Eric Ries’ blog, Lessons Learned. For round 1, this fall, we will make up to 10 awards to student teams. New to the program this year will be a more robust structure for mentoring and guidance as you work on your business. We expect that teams participating in the MVP Award program will be well prepared to enter the Business Plan Contest if they choose, with well designed experiments that lead either to a strong validation of their value proposition and growth strategy or a necessary and important pivot.

The deadline for round 1  (for both the online poll and softcopy application) is Monday, October 1 at 12:00 noon. Due to the competitive nature of this program, late applications will not be accepted. NOTE: this round is only open to ECs. Teams with RCs may apply to round 2 in the winter term. Visit the MVP Award website for complete details.
