Position Summary
The Senior Manager focuses on identifying, quantifying and executing improvement opportunities across Walmart.com Supply Chain leveraging advanced analytics, optimization and statistics. This role will be instrumental in developing world class supply chain strategies to meet customer and business demands of Walmart’s eCommerce business. Utilizing revolutionary data analytics techniques applied to “big data”, the Sr Manager will find opportunities in the current supply chain and be able to develop new tools and or processes to optimize for the future.

This role is part of the operations analytics team – a think tank focused on improving all aspects of the dotcom supply chain from network design to inbound/outbound transportation and multi-channel initiatives by leveraging big data. This is a high impact and high visibility role within the organization with expectations to deliver immediate results. The Senior Manager is expected to attain results through effective management of a small team of high performing analysts, leveraging cross-functional resources, and as an independent contributor as needed.

Position Description
(1) Supply Chain and Logistics Strategy (70%)
• Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including cross-functional project management, data gathering and manipulation, analysis and modeling, and communication of insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrate a high degree of originality and creativity when developing solutions to improve existing product allocation strategy and business processes within supply chain utilizing methods such as statistical analysis and optimization.
• Manage multiple projects at once while ensuring deadlines are met and data output is accurate and appropriate for the business. Must demonstrate decisive and imaginative leadership ability to determine what data and approach is best for the task at hand.
• Build scalable and complex supply chain models and processes to optimize supply chain strategies with goals to deliver excellent customer experience while balancing operating cost
• Develops visionary approach to problems and opportunities. Excels in “blue sky” out-of-the box thinking for the future of supply chain while also being able to transfer the strategic vision into reality.

Potential projects for the team can include:
• Create models to analyze the network need to support future sales growth with scenario modeling capabilities to understand the sensitivity to multiple variables; provide insight to Logistics executives on opening, closing, or repurposing DCs; analyze impact to multiple networks simultaneously; and create scenario analyses extending beyond the five-year modeling horizon.
• Develop optimization logic and tool to determine truckload lane strategy for outbound transportation balancing cost and SLA requirements
• Develop logic and tool to determine optimal share of volume to process in various customer buying channels in the company balancing inventory availability, capacity, cost, and service level requirements
• Partner with technical teams in @Labs as well as non-technical cross-functional teams to conceptualize and execute visionary supply chain tools of the future developing innovative logic based on theoretical and practical thinking

(2) Change Management & People Management (30%)
• Develop relationships with Wal-Mart functional areas in San Bruno, CA across both technical and non-technical teams, as well as in Bentonville, AR, to provide visibility to the business and to gather support for key initiatives
• Effectively uses influence to obtain alignment from relevant business partners and management to drive projects forward. Breaks through various obstacles and barriers of resistance to ensure success of the project.
• Communicates clearly and persuasively via email, verbally, and presentations. Tailor messaging to the appropriate level audience and modify approach as needed for maximum impact.
• Excels in high stress situations with senior and C-level executives with the ability to not only present clearly but also effectively overcome objections with skillful persuasion using data-driven arguments
• Achieves high productive output from the team while maintaining high morale. Manages associates’ careers with respect and effectively coaches and counsels 2-5 high potential analysts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
• BA or BS required
• MBA or Master’s in quantitative discipline

• 3+ years post Master’s of experience in supply chain, logistics, finance, retail, consulting or in a strategic, business analyst capacity

Responsibilities


This role is a critical asset to the organization’s strategy and growth.
