[Job] Apple Retail Sales & Ops Group Opportunity

May 18, 2012  |  No Comments  |  by admin  |  jobsrss

We are hiring for two roles and are looking for high-energy people who have strong analytics, communication, and team skills with interests in retail sales & operations — and who thrive in ‘startup’ environments.  The roles are open to MBAs or pre-MBA rockstars. Regarding the latter, I’m open to pre-MBA rockstars with 2-3 years of experience at a top-tier consulting / banking / professional services firm who are thirsty for the opportunity to apply their analytical skills to the iPhone and iPad business. The title of the roles have to use Apple terms — “Analyst” — but mask the breadth or opportunity of the roles. Their roles have high visibility; their work will be shared with senior execs and will be used to drive the business for the specific retail segments they represent.

Industry Type: Advertising, Media (new Media preferred), Internet (Content, e-commerce, Social etc.).
Functional Area: Product Management

Job Description
Come build the next generation of monetization tools to help owners of mobile content build their own businesses.  As a Product Manager at InMobi, you’ll have a disproportionate impact on shaping the future of mobile publishing.

InMobi is in the process of launching a new suite of publisher focused products, and we are looking for dynamic product managers who have the rare combination of vision, technical chops, and a love for getting stuff done.  This is a completely new set of products for the company, and you’ll be a leader within the team driving this from concept to launch.

You’ll do all of the usual things that product managers usually do (design products, write PRDs, educate sales teams, manage development timelines, be the go-to subject matter expert), but do it at one of the fastest growing companies in the space with a truly global footprint.  InMobi reaches more than 1 billion consumers around the world.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proactively build relationships with internal and external teams to field market needs / feedback.  Understand the needs of publishers so deeply that you’re the subject matter expert within the company
  • Envision the future of mobile monetization to define product strategy, prioritize your development roadmap, and translate that into product specs / requirements
  • Oversee the planning and development of your product(s) in conjunction with Engineering and other teams cross-functionally.  Lead decisions on prioritization and resolving issues. Create, measure and report on success metrics
  • Coordinate with global teams to identify strategic partnerships to enrich our Product suite and offerings.
  • Evangelize our products and solutions across InMobi and the Industry

Qualifications

  • Unbridled passion for mobile, digital media, and all aspects of its global growth
  • Ideally 6-12 years of total work experience, with at least a few of those as a Product Manager in online advertising, e-commerce, mobile or related industries (2-5 for Manager role, 5+ for Senior Manager role).  You can write product specs / PRDs in your sleep with prose that speaks to engineers and business people alike.  Even better if you’ve spent some time in a technical role (e.g., writing / testing code).
  • Self-starter who is hungry to take on new professional challenges, and looking for roles with high growth potential
  • Comfort working in a fast moving, dynamic setting.   You pick things up quickly.  Startup experience a real plus.
  • You love data, and use it to make decisions.   You’re a champion of data when making critical decisions.
  • Very strong plus if you understand digital publishing / the issues facing premium publishers, and / or have expert knowledge of the display ecosystem (e.g., business models and product capabilities of ad networks, ad servers, sell side platforms etc.)
  • Outstanding teamwork, project management and interpersonal skills.  You know how to influence sales teams without direct management of them.  A plus if you’ve got experience leading global cross-functional teams.

Fun Facts about InMobi

We’ve just moved into beautiful new offices in downtown San Francisco (475 Brannan) which is 1 block from Caltrain / the Ballpark, and served by many Muni / Bus lines.

InMobi is a truly global company.  We’ve got offices in 20+ cities around the world, and reach more than 1 billion consumers around the world.

InMobi closed a Series C round of $200M from Softbank, and is also backed by Kleiner Perkins and Sherpalo Ventures (one of the original investors in Google).

This is a unique opportunity to bring to market a wholly new product line globally.  We’re a fun, young company that’s got a proven platform and business model.  Compensation is competitive (depending on experience), and includes equity.  Note: given the global nature of the business, the job may require up to 20% travel.
