Your role as Business Development Manager:

As the newest member of our European Business Development Team, you will be the foursquare representative for one of our target markets (France/Spain/Italy/Germany/Turkey) focusing on building partnerships to drive awareness and adoption of our product across the region.

Your main job will be to engage with a broad range of companies from the retail, media and sports world to change the way that they interact with their customers, followers and fans in the real world. The list of our existing partners is very impressive so far and we hope that with your help we can add more local partners to that list.

Being among the first European employees is an exciting opportunity as you would be planting the seed for our future growth in the region. That also means that you will have to be comfortable picking up a variety of other tasks that might not be immediately related to building partnerships. You should have a great network in your target market (France/Spain/Italy/Germany/Turkey), be familiar with a wide variety of industry business models, be comfortable in a fast-paced start-up environment, and bring an energetic, fun and creative approach to your work.

This position will be based at our European headquarters in London, UK. We offer competitive compensation packages including equity options and full benefits for everyone.

Key responsibilities:

  • Simultaneously manage multiple partnerships to insure closed deals are implemented successfully
  • Forge new strategic partnerships that contribute to increased brand awareness and user acquisition
  • Develop creative solutions with partners to launch campaigns that align with the company’s product and vision
  • Deal sourcing, structuring, negotiation and closing with a wide variety of strategic partners in the retail, media industries and in the agency world
  • Direct liaison with foursquare legal counsel to shape contract development
  • Help lead direction of evolving foursquare advertising product line and help drive other monetization initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA nice to have
  • 3-5 years of relevant business development experience
  • Fluency in English and one other of the following languages: Spanish, Italian, French, German, Turkish
  • Deep industry expertise and a overflowing Rolodex of contacts in the industry
  • Sharp strategic thinker who can help design as well as execute foursquare partnership strategy
  • Proven success in sourcing, negotiating, closing and managing complex strategic partnerships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable presenting foursquare capabilities and partnership opportunities to a large audience
  • Comfortable in a small, intense and high-growth start-up environment

Summary: AppNexus is looking for an App Marketplace Partner Manager to help manage activities within AppNexus’s latest industry-leading offering, the AppNexus App Marketplace.  This role is essential to help build and commercialize an innovative offering within our company. By helping to structure processes, coordinate resources internally and externally, and working closely with app partners, the Apps Marketplace Partner Manager will help to shape the future of a business unit.  The candidate’s primary role will be to help evolve a nascent program, and it will require excellent project management, knowledge of business fundamentals, great communication and strong organization skills. This is a highly valued role that will provide the candidate with a great deal of exposure to innovative companies building products and services across the display advertising ecosystem, internal AppNexus technology tools, and fantastic cross-functional opportunities within AppNexus.
Responsibilities

  • Aid in apps commercialization and business planning to build the Apps Marketplace offering
  • Advise, train and work with the Sales and Services teams, as well as their clients, to understand evolving business needs, identify the highest impact opportunities for app builders, and create programs to drive Marketplace growth
  • Spearhead project management efforts with app partners, who are external companies, clients, and prospect clients, to help them build successful apps on top of AppNexus API frameworks
  • Work with and support new app partners in their onboarding process with business-related inquiries
  • Manage business needs, push for effective app feature upgrades, and handle day-to-day communications with existing partners
  • Coordinate with Marketing to obtain case study materials from existing app partners
  • Help create collateral for Sales, Services, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to evangelize AppNexus Apps
  • Conduct research and industry benchmarking against other marketplace businesses
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to spearhead app adoption, knowledge-building, and training for apps
  • Document, track progress and prepare materials that summarize key milestones and developments within the Apps Marketplace
  • Keep abreast of internal API and product features and inform app partners on company developments affecting app development
  • Assist in planning and coordinating marketing events for app builders, data providers, and AppNexus app and data users

 

Requirements

  • BS/BA from a top-tier school, MBA a plus
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to manage external and internal stakeholders across several functional groups
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, a self-starter and love for innovation
  • Experience in product management/marketing, bringing features to market, or consulting is a plus
  • Analytical skillset and a solid understanding of business concepts
