On April 5th we have the pleasure to host Alireza Masrour, VP for technology investments at Plug and Play Tech Center. Plug and Play Tech Center is an international technology accelerator in Silicon Valley that fosters an ecosystem of technology startups, investors, government, university, and corporate partners.

P&P’s showcase program for university startups is Plug and Play Startup Camp, a 10-week funding and mentorship program for early stage companies.  This summer program launches on June 17th, and teams from HBS are welcome to apply. Qualified Startup Camp participants are eligible to receive an investment of $25,000 upon acceptance into the program with opportunities for follow on investments.

Your role

We seek a Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.   This position has very high visibility and has successfully prepared the two most recent position holders to transition to significant operating positions within the Company

Responsibilities


This role is a critical asset to the organization’s strategy and growth. This individual will lead the FP&A function, and will own the Company’s annual financial and operating plan, the quarterly reforecast, real-time P&L forecasting, complex revenue analysis modeling, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis and special projects.

S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including the Board of Directors, CEO, COO and CFO.  These projects will include development and preparation of board communication and reporting, executive management financial reviews, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects that are on the critical task list of senior management. This function is the core of the analytical engine of the company, providing insights, analysis and critique to support rapid fire business decision making. Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain real-time revenue tracking and forecasting capabilities
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance, focusing on currency, geography, product line, margin impact, customer behavior and other trend drivers
  • Partner with business intelligence data group, departmental analysts, executive management and key project leaders to drive better data and smarter, faster decision-making
  • Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools

Qualifications:

Registration is now open for a week-long course in August on “Game Development for Software Engineers”, hosted by MIT Professional Development and the MIT Game Lab (ranked in the top 10 colleges for Game Design by the Princeton Review for the past 4 years). It is aimed at software engineers, technical directors, programmers, and project managers interested in or new to professional game development… especially those now being required to work on games or interactive software for entertainment, including mobile apps of all kinds (games, illustrated books, health apps, gamification apps, etc…)!
