Dear HBS 1st years,
We’re excited to launch the second year of our Maveron Fellows program!
What it is: Maveron Fellows is a program aimed at providing hands-on venture capital experience to students early in their business school careers by involving them in the complete investment process alongside the Maveron team. The Maveron fellow will serve as a liaison to their campus and surrounding community, working closely with a Maveron partner to identify promising companies and entrepreneurs, dive in on the investment process, and host events alongside us around topics that excite you. The program will culminate in the spring with a fun event in SF or Seattle including all 3 fellows from different schools, the Maveron team, and a selection of our portfolio companies with an opportunity for each fellow to present and spend time with the Maveron family.
Who we’re looking for: A first year business school student with deep conviction and passion around big, disruptive ideas in the consumer space. Someone who loves thinking, talking, brainstorming, and building new tools, brands, companies, and products, and spending time with others that do, too.
Who we are: Maveron is a venture capital firm focused on early stage investing in direct to consumer companies and brands. Based in San Francisco and Seattle, Maveron was started by Howard Schultz, Chairman/CEO of Starbucks, and Dan Levitan with a commitment to partnering early on with standout entrepreneurs launching world class consumer companies, both online and off. Our portfolio includes eBay, Drugstore.com, Shutterfly, zulily, Everlane, Julep, Potbelly Sandwiches, and General Assembly, alongside a bunch of others.

3) In 1 page or less, choose either a specific early stage startup that’s currently raising or is yet to raise their first round of capital OR an industry/vertical within an industry and describe why you think it’d be an interesting investment opportunity.
