Aster Data is looking to hire a Product Marketing Intern for the Teradata Aster MapReduce Platform into the emerging Big Data analytics and Hadoop/MapReduce market. As a Product Marketing Intern, you will craft the messaging and positioning for the Teradata Aster MapReduce platform. You’ll conceive and develop innovative marketing programs that drive demand. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits is crucial. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in cross-functional teams while being a hands-on contributor, whether they are scripting and recording demos or working with alliance partners. In your role you will be the expert in buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria and will transfer that knowledge to the sales channel. The position is based at Teradata Aster¡¦s headquarters in San Carlos, California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates the Teradata Aster MapReduce Platform
  • Sales enablement & support – communicate the value proposition of the Teradata Aster MapReduce Platform and its SQL-MapReduce framework to the sales team and develop the sales tools that support the selling process; Support sales calls as a product expert
  • Product launches ¡V help to launch new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
  • Market intelligence – be the expert on your buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria
  • Competitive intelligence – be the expert on your competition, keeping abreast of competitive product developments, sales strategies and the underlying technologies that competitor products are based on
  • Demand generation – develop the strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for your products
  • Develop strong relationships with cross functional teams including product management, engineering, sales, sales industry marketing, and customers

Qualifications
Required Skills and Background

  • Experience in product marketing, technical presales, or product management
  • Enterprise software experience preferred
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work independently, problem solve, improvise, and function as part of a team that performs well under pressure
  • Experience collaborating across virtual cross-functional teams that are not under direct control
  • Superior communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Desirable: Hands-on understanding of analytics and business intelligence tools, data warehousing, database software. Experience programming in Java, Python, C++, SAS, R, or other languages used in data analytics setting.
